Published Again!

Magazine #5!  Yippee!  OK...this never gets old :)

I made this card over the summer.  It's a digital image from Paper Cupcakes.  I colored the image with Copic markers.

Still trying for the cover like my friend Mary or an inside spread like my friend Amanda :)

Enjoy!

Cigar Box 19 - Wishing Well

Cigar Box 19 was a gift for a very close friend of a very close friend ;)    I had about 3 days to pull it all together.  I used Webster's Pages for the paper (love that stuff), and I'm pleased with the way it turned out - even though I almost threw it out of the window multiple times in the process.  This is the first box I've experienced a "technical difficulty" with.  Seems the lid is so tight to the edges that when I added the inside edge papers, the lid wouldn't close.  I ended up sanding down the inside edges...what a pain...and cutting down the inside edge papers lower than I liked, but I made it work and it came out beautiful!   The box survived a flight to Chicago (carry-on)...the giftee loved it... so all is well in my world :)  I think this may be one of my favorite boxes so far!

Magical Monday - Snowman Cupcake

This week's challenge at There's Magic In The Air With Paper Cupcakes is "Sparkle, Sparkle, Sparkle."  Use any Paper Cupcakes image and add some sparkle: glitter, stickles, foil paper...anything that gives a sparkle to your card.  The image I used is Snowman Cupcake.

I colored Mr. Snowman with copics, then added Stickles to his carrot nose and black top hat.  It's a little hard to tell, but they do sparkle quite a bit.

Still waiting for the first snow here in this part of Maryland so I can build my own snowman...maybe :)

So, play along, upload your card, and you could win FREE images.

Cigar Box #18 ... Harley-Davidson

 Live Free...Ride Hard

Enough said.

Was gonna add some silver studs/bling, but since it's for a guy, I left it alone.  He likes it, so that's all that matters :)

Cigar Box #17 - Hawaii

My Hawaiian Altered Cigar Box was inspired by my recent trip-of-a-lifetime to Hawaii.  I travelled with two amazing women.  We spent one week on Kauai and one week on Oahu.  It was the BEST VACATION EVER!

The paper I found is so pretty, I didn't even add any embellishments.  Maybe later :)

I've Been Published Again!

Scrap & Stamp Arts
January 2013, Page 30

Over the summer, SSA put out a call to show them a clever way to welcome a new neighbor or notify friends of a recent move.

The image used is Paper Cupcakes: "Greetings" colored with Copics; cut out with Spellbinders Wonky Squares; sponged while still in die; and adhered to the card front.

The sentiment is computer generated; cut out with Spellbinders Wonky Squares; sponged while still in the die; and popped onto front of card.  Add bling :)

I also used this image in a previous blog entry back in August.

Magical Monday - Snowman

This week's challenge at There's Magic In The Air With Paper Cupcakes is to make a card using Freebie Image: Snowman with Tree but  you have to also use one or more snowflakes somewhere on the card.

My card is snowflaked out!  The background is embossed with SU's snowflake embossing folder; the designer papers have a snowflake print; then I blinged it out with 2 snowflake brads.  Is it snowing outside yet???

So, play along, upload your card, and you could win FREE images.

Ornament Keepsake

On Sunday, October 14th, the girlz got together for a day of ornament making!  This all was inspired by the front cover of one of the Stampin' Up! catalogs (see below).  Using the Stampin' Up! Ornament Keepsakes Stamps and Dies, along with a variety of other supplies that included tons of glitter - which we aptly got EVERYWHERE....but I digress...

Enjoy the photos, but I can assure you that these are so much more stunning in real life!

Cigar Box #16

I made this box using a pretty 8x8 stack....but I can't find the stack, so I can't tell you the name of the stack :(    I don't even remember from where I got it now.  Oh well.  Nevertheless, the bling on the top is a Zva Creative Self-adhesive Embellishment.  Ain't it pur-ty?

Anyway, I am letting this box go to my neighbor (who is also a really good friend) who is gifting it to Mary Lou Quinlan, author of "The God Box."  (Don't tell her!) My neighbor's book club read the book, then had a Skype discussion with the author.    I had given an altered Cigar Box Class with some of the same ladies earlier in the day, and my neighbor used her box as a God Box which was given as the door prize to one lucky book-club-discussion participant that night.  She then wanted to give a box to the author, so I offered up this one :)

Cigar Box #11

I recently realized that I jumped from Cigar Box #10 to Cigar Box #12 on this blog.    I couldn't figure out my mistake, but finally found these photos from Cigar Box #11 that I had fortunately saved when I made the box some time ago.

I used the same paper as I used for Box #3 and Box #6 - Recollections Union Square Plaza stack.

Enjoy!

Magical Monday - Ahoy Mate!

This week's challenge at There's Magic In The Air with Paper Cupcakes is: "Recipe."

The challenge is to make a card following the recipe below.  You can add to the recipe, but you cannot take away from the ingredients that are listed:

1 Embossing Folder or dry embossing of some sort
1 or more die or punch
1 ribbon, twine, string, or something of the like
1 button
Glitter or some sort of sparkles

For my card, I used the image Paper Cupcakes "Ahoy Mate." I printed out the image on White copic-friendly cardstock (Georgia Pacific 110# from Walmart), colored it with copics, ran it through the Big Kick using the Papertrey Ink - Layerz Mat Stack 3 die, sponged the outside edges, and popped it onto the card front.  You can't tell from the picture, but the little telescope is colored with a glitter pen for the glitter part of the recipe.  The ribbon across the center is actually 3 pieces of heavy twine which I braided together and adhered with 1/8" wide Scor-Tape.  The designer paper is from the 6x6 Authentique "Glory" stack.  Adhered 3 old buttons tied with twine, popped the sentiment, and finished with the owl's googly eye.

Cigar Box #15

I really, really love how the outside turned out on this one!  The inside, eh...it's just OK.

I mixed two different blingie swirlie thingies.  The paper is from the Mariposa 12x12 Stack.

It's a gift.  Can't wait to give it!

Roll Tide! (Cigar Box #14)

A friend of mine asked me if I could make a box for her good friend who is an Alabama fan.  I said...better yet, come over to my house and I will show "you" how to make it!

Here are the results of our play date :)

You can check out my Maryland box here.  Next...need to find papers to do a Caps box.  Now having much luck.  Any suggestions?

I was published! Again!

It's so much fun to get the big white envelope in the mail from Scott Publications because that means you have at least one card published in their current magazine, and here is your complimentary copy - you're welcome!  This is my second time in a Just Cards! magazine...yay!

I actually have FOUR cards in the Just Cards! Holidays Volume 4 2012 issue.

Three Christmas and one Happy New Year.  (In person, you can see the texture and details better.)

Here's a close up of "Beary Christmas" so you can appreciate the humor :)
