Die Cut Negative Inlay

Inspired by Pinterest.

I wanted to try the die cut negative inlay using the Cheery Lynn Designs Fanciful Flourish die.

I definately stepped out of my box...I'm getting braver with putting colors together.

I wasn't happy with the card at first.  I couldn't figure out what to put on the front to give it pizzazz.  Nothing was working.  The idea of adding the bird hit me all of a sudden, and now I really like how these turned out.

Hint:  If you want an embossed background, emboss it first before cutting out the flourish. If you cut out the flourish first then emboss the cardstock, it slightly distorts the die cut opening, and the inlay doesn't fit as tight.  I hope that makes sense.

Baltimore Ravens Starburst

Remember the Baltimore Ravens altered cigar box I made a few weeks ago?  Well, I made a couple of note cards with the leftover/scrap paper.

I can always pop a sentiment onto the bottom later...or just leave it blank.

Here is the Operation Write Home Starburst Tutorial.

Maryland City Shoebox Swap

June 29th marked that latest Maryland City Shoe Box Swap.  We had a great time.  We talked.  We laughed.  We ate.  We talked some more.  We laughed some more.  We ate some more.  We even had a couple of newbies to corrupt...er, I mean encourage ;)

The top card is my shoe box swap card.  It's an all-purpose card.  Just stick a gift card in the little envelope on the front and the inside can say whatever you'd like.

Below are the rest of the great cards we made.  Of course, some of mine don't look "exactly" like the prototypes, but close enough :)

Published: Breast Cancer Awareness

Scrap & Stamp Arts featured "Breast Cancer Awareness" card designs in their currest September 2013 issue.

I created the Cancer Cupcake Awareness card at the far bottom right of page 21 :)

The digital image is from Paper Cupcakes and colored with Copics.  Die templates by Spellbinders.
