Shutter Christmas Card Display

I thought I would share with you my Christmas card display.  I used an old shutter I found at a salvage place.  I just have it leaning against unused wall space.  I supposed you could build a piece onto the back so that it is freestanding - or hang it on a wall, but this way is so easy!  Anyway, I took the old hinges off and was going to paint it, but never got around to it.  I kind of like it all old and crusty.  Now I wish I had bought 2 so I could space out the cards more so more of each actual card would show.  Nevertheless, I am happy with the way it turned out and will be carrying on this display tradition.  And I have all year to look for another shutter :)

I submitted this card for their "Thank You" section.  The owl card on the cover is by my friend Amanda.  I'm still chasing that elusive cover...

More Note Card Holders

Although I retired earlier this year, I was invited to my former co-workers' annual Christmas Party.  Each year, I had tried to make each of them some sort of paper craft.  For this year, I made them each a handmade Christmas card, a Note Card Holder, and a couple of handmade cards for their own personal use.

It was so nice to see was like we were never apart.  I had the best co-workers ever.  I know I was blessed to be a part of such a special team.   Damn I miss them every day.  But I don't miss work!  Just sayin'...

Note Card Holders

I am part of a great group of women crafters known as "The Meade Girls" and each year, we do several rounds of "Secret Sister" cards during the year and "Secret Santa" for Christmas time.  We have a Christmas party at which we reveal the Secret Sisters and exchange our Secret Santa gifts.

I made these cute little note card holders - one for the reveal and one for the gift exchange.   They are made from one 12 x 12 sheet of designer paper.  Then you can add whatever else you'd like to dress them up.  I added the rosettes.

I was Jane's Secret Sister, and I placed my reveal card in one pocket of the holder, and, even though no gifts were required for the reveal....just a card...I included a little something in the back pocket.

I was Jill's Secret Santa.  I had her list of 3 items she might like to have.  I put a card in the front pocket and her gift in the back pocket (luckily it was flat).

Oh, and I made the envelopes with coordinating designer paper using the Envelope Punch Board by We R Memory Keepers (Stampin' Up! has one too but I had already purchased the other one before Stampin' Up! came out with their version.).

Published in Just Christmas Cards & Decorations! 2014

"Happy Snowman" made it into the Just Christmas Cards & Decorations! 2014 magazine on pages 5 (Contents page), 74 (All That Glitters! section intro page) and 98 (in the All That Glitters! section).

A second card made it as well on page 40.  The top layer has the ornament shape punched out so you see the glittery paper underneath, but it really didn't photograph well in the magazine.  I included it below anyway :)
